The college basketball calendar is already throwing open the doors, and the Bahamas is the first real pressure cooker. Arkansas, Texas A&M and other Division I programs are using the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League to test new rotations, fresh faces and lineups that will not get a quiet runway in November.
Arkansas brought four newcomers into the spotlight, including seven-footers Maper Maker and Ilia Frolov, reclassified guard Davion Thompson and frontcourt prospect Caleb Ourigou. The Razorbacks’ four-game run stretched from July 31 through August 4, with games against the Bahamas National Team, Carleton, Colombia’s Toros del Valle and the University of Calgary.
Texas A&M took the heavier August workload. The Aggies opened against the University of Victoria on August 3, faced Toros del Valle on August 4 and met Carleton on August 5. Cincinnati also joined the late-summer grind, while Valparaiso filled out more of the international field.

That setup gives fans something more useful than highlight clips. Coaches can see which freshmen survive physical possessions, which transfers handle unfamiliar roles and whether a roster built on paper can actually function when the legs get heavy.
