Julian Hall’s breakout has made Red Bull New York’s prized young forward a name to watch this winter—but the reports so far point to interest, not an imminent exit. The distinction matters: a crowded scouting list is not the same thing as a bid landing on the club’s desk.
TEAMtalk reported in September that Leeds United had early interest in Hall, with Borussia Dortmund, Atlético Madrid and Monaco among the European clubs tracking his development. Earlier, amNewYork reported that Marseille, Newcastle United, Atlético Madrid, RB Leipzig and Hull City had checked on his availability, while noting there were no concrete offers at that time. Those reports establish a market around the teenager, not an agreement or confirmed January approach.
New York has reasons to keep control of the timing. Hall signed a new contract through the 2029–30 season in August, after a record-setting campaign that included becoming the youngest player in MLS history to score a hat trick. That deal gives the Red Bulls more leverage if a club does come forward; it does not mean they are preparing to sell.
The roster question is intriguing for both sides. Europe may see a young forward whose rise could justify an early move, while New York can weigh a major fee against the sporting cost of losing a homegrown contributor. With Decision Day set for November 7, the next clues may come from how the Red Bulls finish the season—and whether reported interest turns into something concrete. For now, a winter transfer is a possibility to monitor, not a deal in motion.
