The Chargers’ 0-4 start has put a veteran leader into the deadline conversation—but Khalil Mack is not being shopped, at least for now. The question is whether Los Angeles’ next stretch changes that calculation before Nov. 10.
Adam Schefter raised the possibility of a move, saying the Chargers could receive calls about Mack if the losses continue and a contender needs pass-rush help. That’s a conditional scenario, not a report of negotiations, an offer or a team-to-team call. Schefter also said Los Angeles is not currently looking to trade him.
There is a football case for a contender to ask. Mack, 35, has three sacks in four games, and CBS Sports identified him as a potential deadline candidate. He’s playing on a one-year, $18 million deal, so his contract ends after this season. For a team chasing a playoff run, the appeal is immediate help from a proven edge rusher; for the Chargers, the return would have to outweigh losing a productive defender and team leader.
That balance is the story—not a supposed asking price or a list of clubs that may or may not be interested. Some outlets have floated possible destinations, but no reliable report reviewed here says a specific contender has made an offer. Landing-spot speculation is not the same thing as a market taking shape.
Los Angeles still has time to change the conversation with wins. If the skid continues, though, Mack’s expiring deal and on-field production make him a logical name for rival front offices to monitor. For now, this is deadline watch—not a deal in motion.
